Haleem Recipe
The origin of Haleem recipe lies within the popular Arabian dish known
as Harees. According to Shoaib Daniyal, writing in The Sunday Guardian, the
first composed recipe of Harees is going back to the 10th century, whilst Arab
scribe Abu Muhammad al-Muzaffar ibn Sayyar incorporated a cookbook of dishes
well known with the "rulers and caliphs and lords and leaders" of
Baghdad. "The version portrayed in his Kitab Al-Tabikh (Book of Recipes),
the oldest surviving Arabic cookbook, is strikingly just like the one people
within the Middle East eat nowadays" it stated.
Haleem or Daleem is a delicious dish famous in the Middle East, Central
Asia, and Indian subcontinent. Although the dish varies from region to
location, it generally includes wheat or barley, meat and lentils. Famous
varieties incorporate keşkek in Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan and northern Iraq;
Hareesa in the Arab and Armenia; Khichra in Pakistan and India; and Hyderabadi
Haleem in Telangana, India.
